A charity is being helped to provide vital support in Highland communities by a donation from the Highlands and Islands Press Ball and Media Awards.

The James Support Group was started by Patrick and Wendy Mullery after losing their son James to suicide in 2017.

It provides help for all those bereaved by suicide or who suffer suicidal thoughts.

The charity holds monthly group meetings in Inverness, Fort William, Elgin, Thurso, Invergordon and Dingwall, as well as scheduled and by appointment events in Ullapool, Grantown on Spey, Nairn and Aviemore.

It also operates a 24/7 Helpline and offers one-to-one sessions throughout the Highlands.

The James Support Group is one of four organisations who each received £850 from fundraising at HIPBMA in February.

Patrick and Wendy said: “We are a small charity making a big difference in the Highlands and Moray.

“This donation will help us to continue to provide monthly meetings in the many locations where we bring support to the communities.”
