Fios, crowned Community Newspaper of the Year at the Highlands & Islands Press Ball & Media Awards 2025 (sponsored by Hub North Scotland), is sharing the spotlight — donating £100 of its £300 prize to local charity Crossroads
- Crossroads Lewis has been serving the community of Lewis for the past 35 years
- Supporting unpaid carers to have much-needed time away from their caring role each week
- The support workers will take over from the carer and look after their loved one for 2 -4 hrs on a regular basis
- This enables the carer then to either go out, meet some friends, do shopping, go to an appointment or have a rest
- This would not be possible without the support of donations from the community to top up the funding
- Crossroads Lewis currently supports 95 service users throughout the Island of Lewis and employs 30 support workers and 3 office staff
